The elegant and impressive appearance of the Ayam hen inspired Maximilian J. Riedel, 11th generation CEO and president of Riedel Crystal, to create this groundbreaking and functional design. This impressive Crystal Decanter marries functionality with exceptional aesthetic appeal. The Ayam is a Crystal Decanter with a duel Crystal Decanter function, meaning the wine is aerated both when it is poured into and from the Crystal Decanter, significantly reducing the time needed to open up the wine. The gurgling sound produced when wine poured into and from the Crystal Decanter illustrates the intensity of the aeration process. However, the real innovation lies in the design of the Ayam, which was created not only to stand on the table, but also to hang from it! Hand-crafted and mouth-blown in the company's glassworks in Kufstein, Austria, this crystal glass Crystal Decanter is ideal for younger red and white wines.

Varietal Specific Designs

The Riedel glass designs are based on the exceptional characteristics of each grape variety, which in turn determines the shape, size and rim diameter of the bowl. The latest machine blown technology, in conjunction with the seamless pulled stem, offers a special design feature "architecture", which creates an indent in the bottom of the bowl, reflecting the light and adding another dimension to the lively color of wine.
